Upper Eyelid Surgery Blepharoplasty, or “eye lift” surgery, improves the appearance of the upper eyelids and gives a rejuvenated appearance to the surrounding area of your eyes, making you look more rested and alert. Specifically, eyelid surgery can treat:
Eyelid surgery is usually performed on adult men and women who have healthy facial tissue and muscles and have realistic goals for improvement of the upper and/or lower eyelids and surrounding area. What the surgeon does: In upper eyelid surgery, the surgeon first marks the individual lines and creases of the lids in order to keep the scars as invisible as possible along these natural folds. The incision is made and excess fat, muscle, and loose skin are removed. Fine sutures are used to close the incisions, thereby minimizing the visibility of any scar. After surgery: Most patients are surprised by the lack of pain associated with this procedure. Generally, the sutures are removed in as little as one week, swelling and bruising should subside in 7-14 days, and you will begin to notice your uplifted and younger-looking eyes. To ensure the best results during the healing process, your surgeon may include a prescription eye drop or ointment to keep the eyes and healing incisions moist. At Physicians Skin and Laser, you will receive a relaxing complementary treatment, known as Lymphatic Drainage, which is performed by our Medical Aesthetician 10-14 days post-surgery to relieve swelling and aid in blood circulation.
